Patriot Memory

The Patriot Memory Pyro utilizes a fast SATA III 6.0 Gb/s connection interface to reach its maximum performance without bottlenecks while still maintaining backwards compatibility with existing SATA II interfaces. Technologies like TRIM, DuraClass, and DuraWrite are included in the Patriot Memory Pyro Series to bring a full featured SSD to the performance class market.

The Pyro line is powered by SandForce's new SF-2281 SSD processor, running the latest DuraClass technologies. The Patriot Memory Pyro series raises the bar on what's expected from performance class SSD drives delivering enterprise-like performance to consumer desktops and notebooks, with one of the best price-to-performance ratios on the market. Backed by Patriot Memory's award winning build quality and 3-year warranty; the Patriot Memory Pyro series will deliver one of the most reliable choices in performance class SSDs.

SATA III and TRIM Support

Pyro drives support SATA III at 6Gb/s, and SATA II at 3Gb/s and 1.5Gb/s, with TRIM support. Pyro delivers incredible sequential data transfers of up to 520MB/s read and 490MB/s write on the 60GB model, and up to 550MB/s read and 515MB/s write on the 240GB and 120GB models. The max random write IOPS are up to 85,000 (4K aligned) for the 240GB and 120GB models and up to 80,000 (4K aligned) for the 60GB model.

DuraClass Technology for Increased Reliability

DuraClass technology represents a set of NAND flash management features that work in tandem to deliver world-class SSD reliability, performance, and power efficiency that differentiate SandForce-powered Patriot SSDs from standard solid state drives. As flash storage technology advances and prices drop, these changes have also reduced the reliability characteristics of flash devices, i.e., lower endurance, worse data integrity, and shorter data retention, placing increasing importance on advanced flash management technology. DuraClass technology is designed to compensate for commodity NAND flash memory shortcomings, ensuring SSDs can be reliably used in enterprise and home computing environments for generations to come.

DuraWrite

DuraWrite technology optimizes the number of program cycles to the flash, effectively extending flash rated endurance by 20 times or more when compared to standard solid state drives.

Powerful Error Correction

Powerful flash media error correction (ECC) and RAISE (Redundant Array of Independent Silicon Elements), which deliver an orders-of-magnitude improvement in drive reliability versus today's best enterprise HDDs and SSDs. The result is single-drive RAID-like protection and recovery from a potentially catastrophic flash block failures – all while avoiding the inefficiencies of traditional RAID.

Technology for Increased Endurance

Advanced wear leveling and monitoring optimizes wear leveling algorithms, increasing drive life. Advanced Read/Program Disturb Management safeguards against errant re-programming of cells during read and program cycles. Recycler technology intelligently performs garbage collection with the least impact on flash endurance.

Widely Compatible

Pyro solid state drives are supported by nearly every operating system, including Windows XP, Vista, and Windows 7, Mac OS X, and most versions of Linux. This makes Pyro a simple speed upgrade for your existing system, or a powerful and reliable basis for a new system.

What the Critics are Saying About the Patriot Memory Pyro SSD

Overclocker's Club

"At $209, the Patriot Pyro is the cheapest 120GB SATA III SSD we have tested. In my opinion, this makes it a great drive because while it did fall behind in quite a few benchmarks, it was able to hold its own against the more expensive drives. In some ways I would even agree that the Patriot Pyro has the best price/performance ratio of the SATA III drives we tested."
--Overclocker's Club

Neoseeker

"In other words, the Pyro is less expensive than some other SSDs on the market yet it still performs considerably well. In fact, the average consumer that is using their SSD for standard computing tasks such as web surfing, gaming and image/video editing would hardly notice any performance difference between the Pyro and more expensive drives."

HotHarware.com

"At that price, the 120GB Patriot Pyro comes in at approximately $1.87 per gigabyte, which put it on par with Corsair's Force Series 3 drive and makes it one of the more competitively priced SandForce SF-2200 based drives out there. Looking back at its performance and knowing that the drive is backed by a 3 year warranty, we can't help but recommend the Patriot Pyro. If you're looking for a fast, relatively affordable solid state drive the Patriot Pyro should be on your short list of considerations."
